Year-round E15 Remains Priority

The U.S. ethanol market is not only foundational to grain farm profitability, it is also beneficial to the consumer. Over Christmas and into the new year, the corn and ethanol industry intends to keep our foot on the accelerator in efforts to showcase the benefits of year-round E15 to consumers. The Kentucky Corn Growers Association (KYCGA) President Josh Lancaster will participate in these national efforts on behalf of Kentucky’s corn farmers.

KY Corn will emphasize USDA projections of a record corn harvest this year of 16.8 billion bushels and continue to identify regulatory restrictions on year-round E15. These barriers are a major hurdle to farmers’ access to markets that could alleviate the financial strain that American farmers currently experience.

Beyond explaining solutions to pressures at the farm gate, we will provide Congress with new information from an updated economic impact study that explains how year-round E15 can alleviate consumer prices, as well. E15 typically sells for 10-30 cents less per gallon than standard gasoline. With fuel prices fluctuating and household budgets under pressure, nationwide access to E15 offers drivers a reliable, lower-cost choice at the pump.

We want to put this information centerstage as Congress considers must-pass legislation over the next couple of months. KY Corn continues to advocate for year-round E15 in the interest of farmers in Kentucky and consumers everywhere.
