



Night of Excellence 2026
Ray Allan Mackey, Chairman of the Kentucky Corn Promotion Council, was inducted into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni for the University of Kentucky’s Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. He was honored at UK’s Night of Excellence event in February 2026.
A lifetime of service


Born in Hardin County, Kentucky, Mr. Mackey has dedicated more than 25 years to advancing Kentucky’s grain industry through service to the Kentucky Corn Growers.
Since 1979, Mr. Mackey has managed his family farm operations with approximately 4,500 acres that include corn, soybeans, tobacco, beef cows and market hogs. The farming operation has welcomed many visitors throughout the years, including hosting University of Kentucky (UK) Extension Field Days, educational programs for school children, Farm City Day tours, and Foreign Trade Mission events for international grain buyers and processors.

A leader to the core
Mr. Mackey has served in various leadership positions with the KY Corn Growers Association, including being on the Board of Directors for 10 years, and currently serves as Chairman of the Kentucky Corn Promotion Council. Mr. Mackey served as President of Hardin County Farm Bureau for 10 years and currently serves on the Kentucky Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
His leadership has been recognized with major honors, including the Kentucky Farm Bureau (KYFB) Distinguished Service Award in 2016, the KYFB Farmer of the Year Award in 2013, representing Kentucky as a Southeast Farmer of the Year event finalist, and the UK Presidential Medallion in 2019.
He and his wife Jan, a retired schoolteacher, have been married 42 years and have two sons.
At the same time, I’m very thankful for the opportunities that have come my way to serve in leadership for the Kentucky Corn Growers and the Kentucky Farm Bureau.
