Record Corn Production Achieved in 2020

Corn production in Kentucky is estimated at 254 million bushels, up 4% from the previous year. This is a record high production, breaking the record set last year and the first time Kentucky production has exceeded 250 million bushels. Yield is estimated at 184 bushels per acre, up 15 bushels from the 2019 level and a record high yield. Acres for harvest as grain were estimated at 1.38 million acres, down 70,000 acres from 2019.

The U.S. corn production is estimated at 14.2 billion bushels, up 4% from the 2019 estimate. The average yield in the United States is estimated at 172.0 bushels per acre. This is 4.5 bushels above the 2019 average yield. Area harvested for grain is estimated at 82.5 million acres, up 1% from the 2019 acreage.
