KyCorn’s investment into a partnership with Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) helped bring Paul Jr. Designs and AMERICAN CHOPPER back on the air after a six-year hiatus from reality TV. The legendary motorcycle craftsmen returned to Discovery Channel with the premiere of AMERICAN CHOPPER on May 27. A few episodes later, RFA’s custom built E85 bike was featured in the new series along with some straight talk by Paul Teutul, Jr. and others about how ethanol adds benefit to the American economy and E10 fuel is safe for motorcycles.
E10 has been used in motorcycles as a safe and cost saving alternative to straight gasoline for decades. In fact, every motorcycle manufacturer endorses the use of E10, while some approve the use of even higher blends. The homegrown fuel provides the high octane that many bikers want. And, it burns cooler and cleaner, extending engine life.
“As a motorcycle enthusiast, I see the misinformation first-hand in industry material, at repair shops and amongst mainstream motorcyclists. I hate that we have to spend so much of our time and investment talking to users of less than 5% of the fuel gallons, but that’s the reality – it’s the same with boat and small engine users, they are all very vocal crowds.”
Robert White of RFA (who is pictured below next to the custom bike) explains, “The partnering with Paul Jr. Designs is a unique tool to further carry our message and ensure that the quality of the design and build is unmatchable. Combined with the global brand and broadcast power of American Chopper, our message is amplified loud and clear.”
“I had just heard things about ethanol in motorcycles that weren’t really good,” said Teutul. “So until we built the bike and we got it running on ethanol, it wasn’t until then that I realized it’s actually a really great product for motorcycles; especially the air-cooling ones that I ride and build, because they run so much cooler than pump gas. Not only that, it’s sustainable, it’s made here, it’s supporting the farmers, they support retired military. I started to really do my due diligence about it and realized that not only is there nothing bad about it, but every attribute of it is good.”
For many years, RFA has collaborated with bike enthusiasts and organizations like the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to get the word out about ethanol’s value. The Ethanol Fueled with Pride bike will eventually be available for use by corn states who participated in the program, so expect to see it at a farm event in Kentucky soon!
